UNFORGIVENESS
A condition of the heart
~ Part One ~

A significant process of healing, which is a necessary action, is forgiveness. Forgiveness, like love, are decisions. Forgiveness is NOT about how we feel but IS a commandment. Jesus said in Matthew 6:14-15:
“If you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will you Father forgive your trespasses.”
When we harbor unforgiveness in our heart, our heart becomes hardened, and we open doors to; bitterness, resentment, anger, unforgiveness, and hatred (to name a few). These are effects of a proud heart. Pride is a stronghold that keeps us from forgiving (quickly) and asking for forgiveness (quickly) when warranted.
1 John 3:15 states that “everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him”.
This should speak VOLUMES because it confirms that if we have any unforgiveness in our heart, we will not have eternal life and therefore will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Grab a pen and paper and take a few moments and ask yourself if you have any unforgiveness for anyone in your heart. You may need to take time and pray and ask the Lord. If you have anyone, write their names down. Second question, did you include yourself on that list? The first thing you may think about are the people who have hurt you in your life or in your past. We tend to look outwardly, but we also need to look internally. It is a question we need to ask the Lord to reveal to us and examine ourselves as well.
Women professed to have forgiven the people that hurt them, but they still were not fully healed. A part of that was because they did not forgive themself. Forgiving ourselves IS also a part of the decision to forgive. Forgiveness may also be a process which then has deeper issues spiritually and may need deliverance. (I will speak on deliverance in another blog)
We need to surrender our heart to the Lord and allow Him to do a “spiritual” surgery on us and get deep down to the root and core of the issues. This can be a painful process, but a necessary one. It is a delicate process which needs time and patience. We cannot rush the process. We need to pray and surrender it to the Lord and allow Him to work in us. We should be quick to repent and quick to forgive, which means forgiving instantaneously and is a decision we make; however, healing is a process.
Romans 8:1 is a good Scripture to memorize. Write it on a cue card and post it in a place where you frequent the most (bathroom mirror, bedroom nightstand, by the coffee machine).
‘There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus’ and goes on to say, ‘who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.’
We know the flesh profits nothing and is contrary to the Spirit which are two opposing forces that exist within a believer.
Short assignment:
  • Pray and ask the Lord to reveal to you if you have any unforgiveness in your heart for anyone, including yourself. Write their names down on paper and take it in prayer, one by one. Surrender them to the Lord.
  • If you hold unforgiveness towards yourself, write down Romans 8:1 and post it in your home where you frequent the most. The enemy will try to continue to hold you in bondage and condemn you for your past, but if you have repented for your sins, God HAS forgiven you, and there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Always refer to the Word of God for encouragement.
  • I pray this will be a start for many women to be healed, delivered, and set free in Jesus Name.
Stay tuned for Part 2…….
